An archive read through color
This independent visual index draws from the public-domain British Library Book Images dataset ↗. The complete covers collection contains 61,548 algorithmically identified images; this page gathers a performance-conscious cross-section progressively and shelves it by sampled hue.
Historical collections can contain outdated or offensive representations. Dates and title-like descriptions are derived from catalogue filenames and may contain errors. Color is an exploratory arrangement, never the only way to reach a record.
